Mackinac Island Airport to Pontiac, Michigan, Oakland County International Airport Flight Planning Webpage. 205 nautical miles.

The general purpose for and use of this webpage is to simulate some of the items necessary to consider when planning a flight from Mackinac Island Airport ( KMCD ) to Oakland County International Airport, Pontiac, Michigan ( KPTK ). The website will provide you with a choice of aircraft, you must choose 1 and only 1 aircraft. The Vans RV-6A Aircraft will be picked for you, but you may choose another if you wish to do so. The estimated duration of the flight will be shown based on the average ground speed of the aircraft and the distance of the flight.

Next, you must list the 3 alternate landing sites you plan to use along the way should you have unexpected aircraft troubles or require a break during the flight. With each alternate landing site, you must list the tower control radio frequency. The radio frequecies will be checked that the value is numeric and that it lies within the radio frequency range for tower control radio frequencies.

Next, you will see a series of checkboxes that you must agree that you have completed all the necessary steps before you can make the flight. You must complete the checkboxes in order that they are given. If you skip any step, or plan the flight in an incorrect order, you will receive pop-ups indicating to you that you have completed steps out of order that you must start over from the beginning of the checkboxes.

Finally, You will see a text area where you are to enter any further notes or information about that flight that may be necessary in the flight plan. You must complete some form of text entry in this text area to complete the form and make the flight. Good Luck!

A few notes about this webpage. This webpage further builds on the checklist idea previously built and discussed where several items must be completed and checked off in the correct order in-order to move onto the next step. Previously that was completed with if-then-else if-then-else type logic. This time I completed this logic using try-catch-throws, which made the logic easier to understand and follow.

Finally, I tried and failed to make this webpage create an alert when the user tries to navigate away from the webpage. I plan to discuss this with you.
